Ken Blake, CPA, EA
Ken grew up in Southern California and, after graduating with honors from La Habra High School, attended San Diego State University where he obtained a BS in Accounting and completed the coursework for his MBA. Shortly after, Ken joined the Air Force as an Auditor and later cross trained into Accounting and Finance until voluntarily leaving with the rank of Captain in 1974.
Returning to his Southern California base, he was by this time married with two small children and became a staff accountant with Elmer Fox & Company in Long Beach and earned his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1977.
Having attained experience in both auditing and taxation, Ken left public accounting for private accounting, serving as a Controller for a jewelry manufacturer, oil and gas syndicator and Vice President of Finance for another oil and gas firm as well as a real estate investment group.
Sensing the limitations in the private accounting field, Ken returned to Public Accounting in 1985, first with a fellow accountant who had also left Elmer Fox & Company and then, in 1986, opened his own practice in Brea, California. Specializing in individual and small business taxation, Ken grew his practice organically for several years, then was approached by a fellow Brea accountant to purchase her practice in 1997 which resulted in nearly doubling the client base.
In 2003, he sat for the Enrolled Agent examination and passed the four part test on the first try.
Continuing to look for ways to expand tax planning for his larger practice, Ken joined Tax Coach in 2005 and became a Certified Tax Coach, enabling him to expand his knowledge of tax strategies.
The practice grew so rapidly that a decision had to be made to either hire a full time staff accountant or scale back from 80 hour work weeks. In 2014, the practice was sold to a local group of accountants, NCH Tax and Wealth Advisors in Fullerton.
Offered a continuing independent consultant role with NCH, Ken focused on working with complex tax clients and creating new strategies for high net worth individuals and businesses.
In 2011, a mutual client had introduced Ken to Jim and Lorraine Conaway and since then the two parties have collaborated on several clients needing advanced tax and investment strategies leading up to the joint venture in ProGrowth Solutions.
Lorraine Conaway
Lorraine Conaway is a seasoned wealth strategist specializing in Tax, Real Estate, Pensions, Business Structures, Insurance, and Charitable Planning. Together with her husband, she has built several multimillion-dollar companies. Her core belief centers on her belief that she should live and do exactly as she councils others to do. She is insistent that you should have not only a strategy but actionable steps. Implementation is key!
With over thirty years of experience, she has successfully helped hundreds of people become financially independent. She has found that there are millions of dollars hidden in the tax returns, bookkeeping and lazy assets. Lorraine is passionate about educating people on how they can increase their wealth by re-directing these dollars into buying assets and increasing the balance sheet to super charge their estates.
She personally practices what she preaches, and has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity. With her real estate investing spanning three decades, she is able to translate this experience to help her clients adapt their portfolios throughout market shifts. Lorraine is a believer in continuous education and has recently added several certifications and graduated from FIDM.
Beyond her empire-building, Lorraine finds joy in globetrotting with her husband, tallying thirty one countries and counting. She treasures moments with her cherished family and friends, seamlessly intertwining leisure and learning through educational reading business and faith-based books.
A certified Charitable Planning expert since 2001, she and her husband have channeled their efforts to raise over $50 Million Dollars for charitable causes. At present, she serves on the board of directors at East LA Jiu Jitsu nonprofit, fostering community through her commitments. She has co-hosted Smart Money Talk Radio an NBC affiliate station, and has been a speaker for the California Women’s Conference, Empowered Women, Magnify Your Wealth, Loral Langemeier, Blissful investor, Rent to Retirement, Prosperity Camp, and Greg Reid’s Secret Knock along with many other platforms.
Gary MacDermid
Gary MacDermid is a highly sought after Motivational speaker, Private Investor, Serial Entrepreneur, Professional Engineer and Retired Naval Officer whose success came from humble beginnings. You can watch his own episode titled "Set Your Goals, or Someone Else Will" in season 3 of the TV series SpeakUp On Amazon Prime Video.
Gary started his career by enlisting in the Navy right after graduating high school. During one of his initial Navy training classes, a Master Chief guest speaker explained the wealth generation strategy of purchasing a house at each duty station. It was this advice which led Gary to understand the true value of passive income after steadily purchasing multiple properties throughout the United States and Internationally.
Gary continued his career by receiving a scholarship where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and was commissioned as a Naval Officer. After leaving the Navy, Gary continued as a licensed professional engineer leading design and analysis projects for several nuclear power plants before deciding to expand the passive income strategy that was previously a hobby.
Gary spent the next several years building and managing a large multi-state real estate portfolio as well as angel investing in several companies. Gary has now teamed up with financial and marketing executives to form ProGrowth Solutions, a unique financial services company started by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs to not only provide premier bookkeeping, accounting, tax strategy and prep services, but also to advise businesses in growth and exit planning.
